United States policy on study-attendance

US court pauses the new D/S rule on 14 September; the current student status system continues

The United States Federal Court suspended the fixed-term stay rule, which had been scheduled to enter into force on 15 September, and the D/S framework was maintained for the time being. UK Student visa financial requirements rise in late November, alongside changes to Erasmus+ rules

(a) The revision of the HC 584 Immigration Rules, published by the British Government on 3 September, and the financial requirements of the Student visa will be increased from 30 November 2026; London £1,570 per month, non-London £1,203, up to 9 months. The same rule is for Britain to return to Erasmus+ in 2027 to adjust the Studen, ChildStudent and Victor paths.

UK Child Student visa changes: a carer's suspended sentence may affect an application

In the United Kingdom, the Code of Criminal Records for Child Students has been updated since August 2026. The application must be refused if an adult appointed by the student to be a guardian, close relative, private Foster carer or resident with a guardian has been sentenced to a suspended sentence of more than 12 months; Under 12 months may be rejected.
