Scope of application and limitations
- A valid work permit must be in place; The period of study is six months or earlier than the expiry date of the work permit.
- Québec's eligible work permit holders also apply, and short courses are exempt from separate CAQs.
- If the curriculum includes internships for different employers or occupations, a new employer may still be required to qualify for a work permit.
- The work experience acquired during full-time study does not include the Canadian Exchange Class qualification, nor does it include the Canadian work experience score of Express Entry.
Meaning to Taiwan applicants
This measure mainly assists foreigners already working in Canada with short-term training and is not a new channel of study or permanent residence. Applicants from Taiwan who plan a degree or certificate programme for more than six months must still apply for a study permit in accordance with the general provisions; Before choosing short courses, work permit validity and internship arrangements should also be checked.
