On 30 September, France announced measures addressing gaps caused when degrees are issued after the academic year ends, complicating residence renewal or status changes. This is an explanation checked on 21 October, not a new regulation announced today.

What was announced

The measures envisage multi-year student permits covering the study cycle through 31 December of the graduation year, a statutory limit on renewal documents and stronger campus mobility support. The announcement says instructions will be sent to prefectures; existing permits should not be assumed to extend automatically.

Check nationality and status separately

TSA’s separate lawyer interview highlights special rules for Algerian nationals under a bilateral agreement. Taiwanese students should check their own permit, programme and written prefecture requirements. The announcement is not a guarantee of permission to work.
