Official notice and timing
IRCC will change online submission of in-Canada asylum claims on November 3, 2026. Unfinished claims not submitted by November 2 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time will require new answers and review of earlier answers; personal information is retained. Immigration News Canada reported the transition on October 6.
Submitted claims and scope
Claims submitted before the cutoff do not require new information unless IRCC requests it. The notice concerns a form transition, not the study-permit deadlines of all international students, and it does not establish an individual’s eligibility for refugee protection.
