Policy under consultation

Australia opened consultation on October 30 on the Genuine Student requirement and financial capacity framework. Submissions close at noon AEDT on November 23. Home Affairs says decisions have not been made; applicants should follow the published rules currently in force.

Why applicants should follow the review

The PIE places the review in the context of refusal pressures in some markets and concerns from education providers. The discussion examines genuine study intentions and whether financial evidence demonstrates actual capacity to pay. It does not establish a new deposit method for all students today.

Practical checks for Taiwan applicants

Editorial guidance: retain your course rationale, study and career plans, funding evidence and document versions, then check official requirements before filing. Do not transfer money to unfamiliar accounts because of social posts about proposals. The ANU archive photograph does not depict the consultation.
