Findings from the tenth survey
IDP’s October 28 Emerging Futures release reports that Australia’s first-choice share fell from 31% to 24% over six months, while the UK and US each reached 21%. The PIE corroborates the figures. These are destination preferences, not a seven-percentage-point decline in actual international enrolment.
Visa certainty enters the comparison
IDP says 83% of prospective students consider multiple destinations; 51% of prospective and applied students say visa prospects strongly influence their destination. The PIE gives a sample of 4,834 across 106 countries, surveyed August 18–September 16. Questions use different respondent groups, so their percentages should not be subtracted.
Using the findings in Taiwan
Editorial guidance: compare tuition, living costs, funding, visa conditions and student support together. A preference survey cannot predict admission or visa outcomes. The Sydney campus archive image does not imply a university-specific survey finding.
