Australia’s Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency is consulting on an updated Cost Recovery Implementation Statement and revised regulatory fees. Feedback closes at 5pm AEDT on 16 October 2026, equivalent to 2pm in Taiwan. The proposed start date is 1 January 2027.

Still in the consultation phase

TEQSA describes the exercise as an annual review under the Australian Government Charging Policy. The PIE reported ITECA’s concerns about regulatory costs on 13 October and identified this consultation. The association’s criticism is distinct from the regulator’s published process.

Meaning to students and families

The consultation concerns regulatory charges. It does not announce a tuition increase for every international student or establish a uniform extra amount for an individual student’s bill.

Editorial guidance: when comparing 2027 courses, retain the university’s tuition schedule, other compulsory fees and payment terms separately, then track confirmed changes after the consultation.
