The association’s preliminary table, dated 14 October 2026, records 13,775 full-time visa students on 1 October, compared with 16,795 a year earlier: a fall of 3,020, or 18.0%. ICEF Monitor reported the regional change on 15 October.

What the figures cover

The table covers Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Undergraduate enrolment fell from 12,469 to 9,801; graduate enrolment fell from 4,326 to 3,974. Changes differ by level and institution.

This preliminary full-time enrolment snapshot is not interchangeable with border arrivals, permits issued or new entrants.

Implications for Taiwanese applicants

Editorial guidance: verify programme delivery, placements and international student support with the target institution. Regional decline alone does not establish a programme closure or lower admission standards.
