Why is it worth applying now?

From Stanford University Knight-Hennessy Scholars（KHS）2027 cohort Applications are officially open. Officially, KHS application deadline is 6 October 2026, 1 p.m. (Pacific Time) 。

This programme is unique in that it is open to single colleges or institutions and can compete for KHS at the same time as it applies for Stanford's qualified degree in research. The government has also made it clear that the KHS No quotas or restrictions according to region, university, entrance or career orientation As a result, students in Taiwan can apply.

Content of the grant

According to Knight-Hennessy Scholars, official Funding, candidates can obtain at most three years before the Institute:

  • Fellowship for tuition and related expenses
  • Allowance for living and academic expenses, including accommodation, meals, books, academic supplies and reasonable personal expenses
  • Economy travel allowance for one round trip per year to and from Stanford
  • Additional one-time relocation allowance for new entrants

If the degree itself is more than three years, such as partial PhD, MD or joint degree, after three years the mode of funding goes back to the standard of each department, and KHS cannot be understood to be an unlimited amount of funding for all courses.

What do Taiwan students have to pay special attention to?

KHS does not replace the Stanford graduate application. Most new applicants must complete both applications separately, with exceptions for approved 2027 deferrals and eligible current PhD students:

  1. Knight-Hennessy Scholars application
  2. Stanford graduate degree application

KHS official requirement that Stanford degree program application must be for KHS applicants on the closing date of the course, or 1 December 2026 By the earlier date of either; Part of the curriculum, such as MBA, has been introduced earlier.

Which applicants are suitable?

The scholarship is particularly suitable for students who have a clear research, professional or leadership orientation and are prepared to apply for a Master ' s degree, doctorate or professional degree in Stanford. KHS is not just about scores, but also about independent thinking, leadership and public participation.

What can be done now?

  1. The deadline for applying to Stanford is confirmed.
  2. KHS plans separately from the Institute ' s application documents to avoid treating the two sets of documents as the same.
  3. Priority is given to the compilation of curricula vitae, references, personal experience and leadership/public influence cases.
  4. Do not use October 6 as the only cut-off date for all materials; Stanford's time schedule must be confirmed separately.

Substantive update on 25 September 2026: MBA deadline passed, other courses still subject to item-by-item confirmation

Stanford GSB states that MBA applicants seeking KHS 2027 consideration had to apply in Round 1 by 9 September 2026 at 16:00 Pacific time. That deadline has passed. The open KHS form does not allow a late MBA application or substitution of Round 2.

Two exceptions may submit only a KHS application: applicants already admitted to Stanford with an approved deferral to 2027, and eligible Stanford PhD students who entered in 2026 and will begin their second year in 2027. Check the official eligibility rules for the degree and entry year.

Today we read Stanford's eligibility, deadline and funding pages and cross-checked UC Berkeley's scholarship guidance for this cycle. KHS remains open for other eligible degrees; this does not mean every Stanford department is still accepting applications.

Qualifications and two sets of deadlines

The official eligibility page indicates that it is open to citizens and residents of all countries to apply; The UC Berkeley Scholarship Office also provides a separate list of global nationality qualifications and current state of openness. This is not an exclusive quota for Taiwan and does not mean that an application will be awarded.
