A summary of the fall poll Pulse Point, published by the United States Board of Education (ACE) on 10 September, indicates that the fall in the number of international students is affecting tertiary income. This post is part of our special coverage Syria Protests 2011. In 73 per cent of the principals interviewed for the admission of international students to their institutions, the returns were reduced. 。 This report cross-checks the original ACE report, the official summary and The PIE News report on September 17, September 21st. This is a compilation of the results of the investigation and is not a new admission rule that has come into effect today.

Background and key figures

The original ACE report recorded that the survey was conducted from 13 to 31 July 2026 and that a total of 328 senior university directors responded, 109 of whom were university or university system rectors. The report was released on 9 September. 73% above is also limited to the number of principals interviewed in international student institutions, which is not the proportion of all 328 directors; It should not be reworded as "73% university in the United States" or "73% reduction in international students".

Major changes and constraints

The PIE News analyses the survey in the context of recent student enrolments and policy pressure in U.S. universities. It is a matter of concern that changes in student mobility are reflected in institutional finances, not just enrolment. However, the survey did not prove that tuition fees were increased, scholarships were reduced or courses were suspended at each university, and there was no individual admission rate for Taiwan students.

Implications for Taiwanese students and families

Edition proposal: In addition to ranking, American schools can be compared with courses offered in the year of application recognized by the faculty, grant continuation conditions and student support. The budget is planned on the basis of official admission and funding documents; Overall financial pressure should not lead to the assumption that a school will be closed down, nor should the decline in enrolment be considered to be necessarily easier to accept.
