IRCC ' s official guidelines confirm that, as of 1 January 2026, applicants who are enrolled in a public institution, may be awarded a master ' s degree or a doctorate degree are not required to apply for a study permit. This is not an automatic application of all certificate or diploma courses marked as "the Institute".

1 January is the effective date of the above-mentioned exemptions and 16 September is the new date of the interview, which cannot be confused with the date of the new policy release.
