Social Work 結合 direct practice、social policy、human behaviour、research、ethics、community development 與 field education，目標是協助個人、家庭與社群，同時理解制度與公共議題。
一、主要會讀什麼
常見內容包括 social work practice methods、interviewing、social policy、human behaviour、research methods、child welfare、mental health、community development、culture and race、law and ethics，以及 supervised practicum。
二、跟 Psychology 有什麼不同
Psychology 更偏 behavior、cognition、assessment 與 research；Social Work 則把個人問題放進家庭、社區、制度、福利政策與 social justice 的脈絡中，並重視 field practice。
三、學制不一定是高中直入四年
以 UBC 為例，BSW 是 professional program，申請者需先完成至少 60 transferable university credits 或已有學士學位，再進入兩年 integrated program。因此高中生必須先確認該校是 direct-entry BSW、advanced-entry BSW，還是 graduate-entry MSW。
