地球科學研究岩石、地殼、地球內部、地表過程與行星系統。它不是單一科系，而是一組從 Geology 到 Geophysics、Environmental Geoscience、Planetary Science 的領域。
一、Geology 地質學
重點是岩石、礦物、地層、構造、火山、沉積、古生物與 field geology。Imperial 的 Geology BSc 也加入 programming、remote sensing 與 geophysics。
二、Geophysics 地球物理
使用 Physics、Maths、data 與 sensing 方法研究地下結構、地震、資源與地球內部。
三、Planetary Science 行星科學
把 geology / geophysics 延伸到 planets、moons、asteroids 與 Solar System。Imperial 的 Earth and Planetary Science 也融合 physics、chemistry、mathematics、engineering 與 computing。
四、適合什麼學生？

- 對地震、火山、資源、氣候、行星或環境風險有興趣
五、和 GIS / Geography 的差異
GIS / Geography 更常聚焦空間資料、人地關係、城市與環境分析；Earth Sciences 更偏地球物質、物理與地質過程。
