SAT's really coming back: U.S. freshen up.
U.S. University application, a very important change is taking place: SAT/ACT is back. In the aftermath of the epidemic, the University of the United States had adopted Teest-Optional on a massive scale, but by 2026 the situation was changing rapidly.

SAT's really back! Ivy was the first to recover. Will it be UC next? The U.S. university application is being reshuffled, and a very important change is taking place: SAT/ACT is back. In the aftermath of the epidemic, the University of the United States had adopted Teest-Optional on a massive scale, but by 2026 the situation was changing rapidly. The top universities, such as Harvard, Yale, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, have all re-requested SAT/ACT.
Princeton and Columbia have also announced that their application for 2028 Fall will begin and resume the SAT/ACT requirements. In other words, Ivy League is fully returning to the standardized examination. But... the most interesting thing is, it's not just Ivy League. Because even the University of California system has now begun to revisit the SAT/ACT policy.
First class: The official return of Ivy Ivy-SAT currently includes:
Meanwhile, Princeton University Columbia University currently applies 2027 Fall, but both schools have announced that: 2028 Fall will resume the standardized examination requirement. This is a very clear signal: the best private university in the United States, which has re-established the value of standardized examinations as a reference point for admission. Second class: UC still doesn't look at SAT, but things are changing, so far the UC system is still up to Test-Free. But there was a very important new development in 2026.
According to some professors, the GPA standard gap between different high schools is very large, the school curriculum is difficult, and the UC has officially launched a policy review of admissions around February 2027. Third: University of Washington still maintains Test-Optional, another university that Taiwan students are very fond of: University of Washington, Seattle is not recovering with Ivy. The UW official still says: SAT/ACT cancellation has been permanently cancelled. So students don't have to submit to SAT/ACT.
Also, in general, the intake examiners will not even see the SAT/ACT submission. But UW and UC are still a little different. If students have very high SAT/ACT grades, e.g. SAT 1400+ ACT 31+, UW may still take high scores into account in very few marginal admissions. With complete abandonment of SAT readiness now, the risk is much higher than in previous years. And especially now that we're in school: the third and second most senior year of the country, and when we actually get out of the U.S. University in the future, there's probably a new change in the layout of the standardized exam. Behind SAT's return, it's the U.S. University admission policy that's reoriented and Ivy's back. U.C. has begun to re-examine. UW is still maintaining Optional.
The next one to restore SAT's top university, who would it be? The United States university admission policy for the next year or two is highly worth continuing observation.
