The core of the Statistics is not "making charts," but the core of the policy, status inference, review, external signature, stochastic models and data analsis. It provides a methodology by which judgement information can support a particular conclusion.
I. What do you read mainly?
The major of UBC Statistics will request calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics and applications theiratic concentration; This post is part of our special coverage Global Voices 2011.
What's the difference between Statistics and Data Science?
Stateistics weighs more heavily on probability, inference, sampling, uncertancy and model validity; Data Science will add programming, databases, machine learning and a larger number of company workworks.
III. EQUIPMENT OF STUDENTS
- I like Mathematics, but I also want to process the real data.
- I'm interested in "is this a credible result?"
- Like models, experimental designs and data interpretation.
- Be willing to learn programming
IV. How to prepare for high school
Mathematics, Calculus is the most important foundation. It would be easier to understand the post-university content if there were first contact with Statistics, Computer Science, Python/R.
V. Common career
