Landscape Architecure combines désign, ecology, pents, Topogramy, hydrology, materias, public space and climate compliance. It focuses more on the outdoor environment and natural systems than Architecture, and is more focused on the design of reality and space-forming than Urban Planning.
I. What do you read mainly?
The UC Berkeley's BA Landscape Architecture consists of core design studies, ecological anallysis, tablers, Topocratic form, metorals and regulation, visual reconstruction and history; Cornell's BS Landscape Architecture also highlights theiry, technology, design studio and pro-social practice.
What's the difference between Architecure and Urban Planning?
- Landscape Architecture： Parks, public spaces, campuses, river banks, landscape systems, plants and ecology.
- Architecture： Main focus buildings, indoor and outdoor space and construction technology.
- Urban Planning： More land use, policy, transport, housing and urban governance.
III. EQUIPMENT OF STUDENTS
Students who like design but also care about nature, cities, climate, ecology and public space. This department usually needs to have both a visual thinking, a research, a field observation and an interest in environmental systems.
IV. PREPARATION FOR APPLICATION
Different schools require different sets of works. It is possible to accumulate first on the drawing, photography, mapping,site analsis, model, environmental project or public-space operation. The relationship between the degree and the professional licence in the target area is also to be confirmed prior to the application, as the rules of accreditation and licensure vary from country to country.
