Development Studies 是跨學科社會科學，研究 poverty、inequality、globalisation、governance、human rights、environmental sustainability 與 development policy。

常見內容包含 Anthropology、Politics、International Relations、Economics、Human Geography、Sustainable Development、Aid & NGOs、regional studies 與 research methods。

IR 更聚焦國家、外交、安全與國際制度；Development Studies 更關注經濟與社會轉型、貧窮、治理、人權、援助、地方社區與發展結果。
