Robotics is not a single engineering field, but rather a complete system that integrates sensors, controls, programs, agencies, AI and human interaction.
I. What do you read mainly?
The core of Universality of Michigan Robotics BSE covers human-robot input, sensors and signaturers, operating systems, and can evolve in the direction of human-stack research, dynamics and control, Hadware and sensors, full-stack robotic systems. Carnegie Mellon Robotics BSR emphasizes the core of the science, system thinking, kinematics, dynamics and cross-cutting practices.
Where's the difference with Computer Science?
CS handles software, algorithms, AI and campaigning systems more widely; Robotics must integrate software with the senses, controls, and hardware of the real world.
iii. What's the difference between Mechanical / Electric Engineering?
Mechanical is more institutional, dynamic, material; Electrical is more heavy on circuits, electronics, controls and signals. Robotics combines the two with programming, AI, perception.
IV. What students are suitable for?
- Mathematics and physics are good.
- Likes programming and likes to do it.
- I'm interested in autonomous systems, robot arms, Drones.
- Willing to cross-cutting learning
V. PREPARATION FOR APPLICATION
High school preparation is a priority for Mathematics, Calculus, Physics, Programming. Many universities do not enrol in Robotics directly, but are advanced Engineering or Computer Science, selecting specialisation, so they have to look at it from school to school.
VI. Common career
Robotics Engineering, Autonomous Systems Engineering, Contractors Engineering, Perception Engineering, Robot Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Human-Robot Interaction, etc.
