Game Programing is not like Game Design. It weighs more programming, data structus, algorithms, game engines, graphics, philsics, AI and real-time systems. The RIT Game Design and Development BS explicitly places the game projecting at the core of the campaign.
I. What do you read mainly?
Common courses include C++/C#, data strutures, computer graphs, game engine architecure, physics, AI, networking, software engagement and team-based game projects.
What's the difference between Game Design and Game Art?
- Game Programming: Write code, do system, and engine and technical application.
- Game Design: Rules, play, level, player experience and system design.
- Game Art: Roles, environments, animations, 3D assets and visual Pipeline.
III. EQUIPMENT OF STUDENTS
You like math, programs, bugs, you do systems, and you're willing to spend your time dealing with students who've got a lot of time. If you only like games but don't like programming, Game Programme may not be right.
IV. PREPARATION FOR APPLICATION
High school gives priority to Mathematics, Precalculus/Calculus, Physics and Programming. RIT explicitly requires four years of math for applications and prefers Calculus and Company applications. It's also helpful to do a small game project, GitHub project, or game jam.
V. Common career
Gameplay Programmer、Engine Programmer、Graphics Programmer、Tools Programmer、Technical Designer、Simulation Developer、AR/VR Developer。
